Skills for Professionals

Fire Safety & Emergency Response

Description
Course Overview:
Industrial environments such as construction sites, oil & gas facilities, refineries, and manufacturing plants are particularly vulnerable to fire and explosion hazards due to the presence of flammable materials, high-energy processes, and complex infrastructure. This course provides participants with the knowledge, skills, and situational awareness required to prevent, control, and respond effectively to fire and emergency incidents in such high-risk settings.
The program blends theoretical instruction with practical simulation and scenario-based exercises. Participants will gain hands-on experience with fire suppression systems, emergency response coordination, evacuation procedures, and incident command principles tailored to industrial operations.

Learning Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to:
1. Identify Fire Risks and Hazards in various industrial environments and recognize common ignition sources and combustible materials.
2. Understand Fire Science and Behavior — including combustion principles, fire spread mechanisms, and classification of fires.
3. Apply Fire Prevention Measures such as housekeeping, hot work permits, static electricity control, and hazardous material management.
4. Operate Firefighting Equipment and Systems — including fire extinguishers, hydrants, hoses, detection, alarm, and suppression systems.
5. Implement Emergency Response Procedures for industrial fire and explosion scenarios, including communication protocols and evacuation planning.
6. Understand the Role of the Incident Command System (ICS) and effectively integrate into on-site emergency response operations.
7. Develop and Participate in Fire Drills, Evacuations, and Emergency Plans relevant to industrial facilities.
8. Assess Post-Incident Actions such as reporting, investigation, and lessons learned to improve future safety performance.
