10-Second Breath: Rapid Donning of the Emergency Escape Mask (Aramco)

Description
Course Overview: 10-Second Breath

In high-risk industrial environments, the difference between a routine shift and a life-altering incident is often measured in seconds. This course is specifically designed for personnel operating in H2S-risk zones, such as Aramco facilities or Nasser S. Al-Hajri (NSH) construction sites.

The 10-Second Breath protocol focuses on the instinctive, rapid donning of Emergency Escape Breathing Apparatus (EEBA). Participants will move beyond theoretical knowledge to achieve "muscle memory" proficiency, ensuring they can protect their respiratory system within the critical window of a gas release.

Learning Objectives
By the end of this module, participants will be able to:
* Identify immediate atmospheric threats (specifically H2S and SO2) requiring the use of an escape mask.
* Demonstrate the "Hold-Breath-Don-Adjust" sequence in under 10 seconds.
* Execute proper mask seal checks under simulated high-stress conditions.
* Navigate to the nearest assembly point/upwind location while wearing the device.
* Perform basic pre-shift inspections to ensure equipment readiness.

Course Outline
Part Module Title Key Focus Areas
1 The Golden 10 Seconds Understanding H2S toxicity levels; why breath-holding is the first line of defense; the "stop-drop-don" mindset.
2 Anatomy of the EEBA Component identification (cylinder, hood/mask, pressure gauge); verifying "in-date" inspection tags per Saudi Aramco/Industry standards.
3 The Rapid Donning Technique Step-by-step breakdown: Opening the case, the 10-second breath hold, clearing the mask, and securing straps.
4 Egress & Environmental Awareness Identifying wind direction (wind socks); moving crosswind/upwind; communication techniques while masked.
5 Practical Drill & Assessment Repeated timed trials; "blind-donning" simulations (simulating low visibility or night-time leaks); final proficiency sign-off.
